U15B Cosmos post huge win over nationally ranked team

The A3 Cosmos (Boys U15 NCSL Division 1) won a tough game by the score of 2-1 against Calverton Cerritos yesterday at Bell Branch Park. The Calverton Cerritos team is currently ranked 3rd in Maryland by GotSoccer.com. The first goal was scored in the 23rd minute by Alex Colagero, who cleanly finished on the back post after a hard shot by Jake Mazzei beat the goalkeeper but rebounded off the crossbar. A3 played a high pressure game across the field and had several chances to score, but went into halftime 1-0. In the second half, A3 continued to pressure and in the 55th minute Jake Mazzei hit a 20 yard blast that hit the side net giving the Cosmos a 2-0 lead. Cerritos fought back and scored with 10 minutes left in the match and continued to pressure forward until the final whistle. Congratulations to Coach McGlynn and the A3 Cosmos!

A3 U09B Arsenal Tournament Success

The A3 Arsenal U09 boys select team were finalists in the Washington Gateway Classic this weekend, finishing in second place with a 3-1 record. It was a fantastic finish to their U09 year!  After opening with wins against Soccerdome Gold and a pair of Alliance FC teams, they lost the championship game, 5-2, to a very tough Severna Park United team. Our boys were actually up 2-1 at half, but simply ran out of steam in the second half with only one substitute. This is their second runner-up finish in a row and Coach Roper is incredibly proud of the entire team!

A3 Ice U10B wins Fall 2013 NCSL Sportsmanship Award

Our U10B A3 Ice was awarded the Fall 2013 NCSL Sportsmanship Award.

At the conclusion of every NCSL game, referees rate parents, coaches, and players separately on their sportsmanship during the contest. Those ratings are tallied and averaged for the season. The team finishing with the highest average score is awarded the Sportsmanship Award. Additionally, any team finishing with a perfect score also receives the award.

Congratulations to Coach Tom Shelly and the boys.
