U15B Cosmos post huge win over nationally ranked team

The A3 Cosmos (Boys U15 NCSL Division 1) won a tough game by the score of 2-1 against Calverton Cerritos yesterday at Bell Branch Park. The Calverton Cerritos team is currently ranked 3rd in Maryland by GotSoccer.com. The first goal was scored in the 23rd minute by Alex Colagero, who cleanly finished on the back post after a hard shot by Jake Mazzei beat the goalkeeper but rebounded off the crossbar. A3 played a high pressure game across the field and had several chances to score, but went into halftime 1-0. In the second half, A3 continued to pressure and in the 55th minute Jake Mazzei hit a 20 yard blast that hit the side net giving the Cosmos a 2-0 lead. Cerritos fought back and scored with 10 minutes left in the match and continued to pressure forward until the final whistle. Congratulations to Coach McGlynn and the A3 Cosmos!

A3 Girls bring home championships!

Our A3 Ponies and Tigers won tournaments this Labor Day weekend in Virginia and Maryland respectively.  The U15 Ponies played in the FSCI Labor Day Tournament in Fredericksburg, VA. They won their three preliminary matches by a combined score of 14-1 and advanced to the final which they won 5-0.  Most impressive is they won against U16 competition.  The girls are ready for high school competition.

The U12 Tigers also went undefeated this weekend as they won the ASA Premier Labor Day Tournament in Crownsville, MD.  They went into the finals with an 8-3 goal differential and played in an exciting final against an also undefeated FC Frederick team.  The Tigers won 4-3 to take the championship.
