Congratulations to the U10G United, U12G Dynamite, and U11B Cardinals for bringing home the Anne Arundel Youth Soccer Association (County) championships in their respective age groups.

The Crofton Freedom girls soccer team won the U-16 premier division of the Mountain Road Soccer Tournament this past weekend. Well done!

Congratulations to the U12G Wild Ponies for ending up their first season as finalists at the Mountain Road Tournament. Nice job coming together in such a short period of time. 

Tournament Champions

Congratulations to the U14B Crofton United on winning the Fallston Cup Gold Division.  In a thrilling final match against tough competition, the boys were down 0-2 with approximately 2 minutes to play.  A Chicharito-like flick sparked the team and initiated the comeback.  The equalizer came a minute later on a Lampard-like rocket that smashed off the crossbar and into the net.  In a 7v7 (no goalkeeper) overtime session, a Beckham-like set-piece from 25 yards out found the back of the net and won the championship.  A very exciting 3-2 victory.  Well done!

One of our coaches lost the starter key to his car this evening. He was on D3 toward the back half but it may have detached from the key chain on the walk back to the parking lot. It is a black key with 4 buttons and a red panic button.

High Winds at Bell Branch

Parents and Coaches,

We are expecting high winds over the next two days, if you are up at Bell Branch and see a goal without a sandbag (two for the large goals), please put one on the goal.  The goals are moved by players, coaches, kids kicking around and the lawnmowers, they sometimes forget to move the sandbags back onto the goal.  We had a goal come down last weekend during the high winds, fortunately nobody was hurt.  We need everyone to watch out for this safety hazard.

MSYSA Coaching Courses

MSYSA will be conducting two “E” courses during November. The first “E” course on November 19th, will be a Spanish speaking only course hosted by Prince George Community College.  MSYSA staff instructor, Willie Ibarra will teach the course in Spanish. On November 20th, MSYSA staff instructor and Crofton United U10B Coach Roy Dunshee, will conduct an “E” course in Burtonsville.

New Select uniforms come in on Wednesday. Wednesday night goalkeeper training:  short-sided keepers (U9-U12) will train from 6-7 and full-sided (U13-U18) from 7-8.

Crofton Strikers rising U14 girls BBSL soccer team is holding a final tryout on Thursday June 9th from 6:30PM until 8:00PM at the Bell Branch complex for motivated players born on or after Aug. 1, 1997 to play in the 2011/2012 seasons. This is a make-up for the rainout on June 1st and is also open to players who have not been able to make the first tryouts. The Strikers play year round including Futsal. Rising U13 Boys

The Crofton Athletic Council’s rising U-13 Boys select travel teams (DOB 8/1/98 - 7/31/99) are holding tryouts on Thursday, June 2, at 7:00-8:30pm, on Saturday, June 4, at 10:00-11:30am, and Tuesday, June 7, at 7:00-8:30pm. The Crofton Revolution is currently playing in Division 3 of the National Capital Area Soccer League (NCSL). The Lightning Strikers plays in the Baltimore Beltway Soccer League (BBSL). Coerver Coaching runs four practices per year for each team compliments of CAC. In addition, the Revolution funds professional training with Rick “Stimmo” Stimpson, Director of Training at Coerver Maryland and three-time All-Ivy League Player at Cornell University. Tryouts will be held Bell Branch Athletic Complex - 2400 Davidsonville Rd., Gambrills, MD 21054 - Field D4 on June 2 and 7 and Field C on June 4. Athletes should attend more than one tryout session. Playing travel soccer is a one-year commitment to play in Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. Select teams play in tournaments, and parents pay tournament fees and other team costs. Youth players who do not play on the NCSL or BBSL teams may play with CAC in the Anne Arundel Youth Soccer League (AAYSL). Placements for AAYSL teams will be held after the CAC fall soccer registration period closes, if needed. The tryout dates for the rising U14 boys age group are: Thursday, May 26th (7:00-8:30) on Field A; Wednesday, June 1st (7:00-8:30) on Field B; and Saturday, June 4th (2:00-4:00) on Fields D2 and D3. The tryouts will take place at the Bell Branch Complex - 2400 Davidsonville Rd., Gambrills, MD 21054.

The age group has the Crofton Crush (WAGS - Premier) and AAYSA county teams. Girls born on or after 08/01/2000 are welcome to the tryouts.

Crofton Freedom rising Girls U-16 soccer team is looking for a few soccer players. In the Fall, we play BBSL and play in a Columbus Day Tournament, offer Futsal/indoor over the winter, and play BBSL in the spring, along with a pre-season and post season tournament. Crofton Soccer Crush - rising U17G select soccer team, is seeking motivated players born on or after Aug. 1, 1994 to play in the 2011/2012 seasons.  Tryouts will be held May 21 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM and May 23 and May 26 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.  All tryouts will be held at Bell Branch Park, Davidsonville, MD. CAC FUSION U-16 Boys BBSL Soccer team will be holding tryouts for players born on or after August 1, 1995 on every Wednesday, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm within the month of May AND Sat May 14th and 21st from 10:00 Am - 11:00 Am.  All tryouts will be hold at Bell Branch Athletic Complex Field C (2400 Davidsonville Rd Gambrills, MD)    Team is coached by Kamran Amini with E-license MSYSA certification, 3 years AAYSA recreation and 8 years WAGS, NCSL and BBSL coaching experience. The team’s assistant coach is Jason Seelhorst.  We are currently in second place within BBSL and looking for 3 -4 experienced players. Coerver training provided as part of CAC registration.

Maryland State Cup (update)

Crofton United advanced to the U13B Maryland State Cup quarterfinals by defeating the Bethesda Dragons 2-1 on Saturday, April 9th.  The game, played at Blair HS in Montgomery County, was hard fought and didn't see the winning goal scored until five minutes from the final whistle.  Congratulations United and good luck in the "Elite Eight".

State Cup winners

Congratulations to the U15B Crofton Blast and U13B Crofton United for advancing in their State Cup matches.

The Blast defeated Saint Mary's United 3-0 to move into the U15B quarterfinals.  Their next opponent is undetermined. 

United defeated the Fruitland Soccer Club U13B Ajax team by a score of 6-2.  They will next face the Bethesda Dragons in the round of 16.
